PhD in Sciences. CEO of AZTI since 2004. Member of the boards of companies in the food sector (New Food Spray, Roboconcept, Apaprocesing) as well as several related foundations in food innovation and safety, quality and excellence (Basque Culinary Center, Euskalit Euskampus, Aquarium of San Sebastiany Elika).
Over 100 scientific publications, spoken at over 50 conferences, inventor on 8 patents, directed 5 doctoral thesis and has also participated in 6 books.
It also has extensive teaching experience as a professor in Master in European Studies at the University of Deusto, Master of Quality Management School engineers, Madrid, professor at Master Food Safety, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Complutense University of Madrid and the Spanish Agency for Food Safety and Nutrition.

Julien Mader is a senior engineer in Marine Technologies (Institut des Sciences de l’Ingénieur de Toulon et du Var, France). His career at AZTI began in 2000 and he is currently Marine Technologies Director
As coordinator for 15 years of the areas of Marine Dynamics and Operational Oceanography, and later Marine Technologies, he has led developments, innovations, and transfers towards marine and maritime sectors (operational oceanography, coastal and coastal zone management, fisheries, aquaculture, marine energies). He has been involved in European, national and regional projects oriented to the transfer of services and products to marine and littoral stakeholders
He has been developing international alliances in the field of operational oceanography and is currently AZTI’s representative in EuroGOOS, chairing the EuroGOOS HF Radar Task Team, co-chairing the IBIROOS Atlantic regional system, and a member of the European Ocean Observing System (EOOS) Operating Committee. He also co-chairs since 2021 the cross-border laboratory KOSTARISK focused on coastal risk management.

Entrepreneur and business connector specialized in the food industry and gastronomy of the national, European and Latin American markets.
My professional career has been developed in the GMCP (Gross Market Consumption Products) sector, throughout the last 20 or more years, 16 of which are dedicated to one of the first national distribution companies whilst fulfilling different positions within the Management team of the Commercial and Marketing areas.
Founding partner of www.baiba.es and investor in different start-ups in the sector. I have also mentored for national, European incubation and acceleration programs and am a professor of Marketing at the Cámarabilbao University Business School.
I have an International Masters in Open Innovation, Intrapreneurship and New Businesses (2017) and Program for Executives and Managers of Retail companies (2006), both from the University of Mondragón. As well as a Degree in Business Sciences from the University of the Basque Country. (1999)
Since 2021 I have been part of the AZTI Value team.

Experience:
From 1999 to 2012, she coordinated the assessment of Northern Megrim in ICES WGBIE (previously WGHMM). Actually she is the Chair of the WG of ICES on Cephalopods Biology and Life History. She has participated in EU Projects (VI & VII FP) as WP coordinator since 1999, leading the international research project AFRAME (2007-2009): A framework for fish and fisheries Management (VI FP). She has participated in several EU Tenders (IP/B/PECH/IC/2013_088), INTERREG and on going H2020 Projects. In the International context, she participates in Consultancy Projects in Saudi Arabia in relation to a Fisheries Program establishment in the Gulf and trap fisheries in the Red Sea. Since 2009 participates regularly to the Regional Advisory Committees from the EU, specially AC SWW and AC NWW.

He has over 15-year experience in the field of R + D. He began his career in the branch of the Institute of Food Quality Vasco Argentino in Buenos Aires (Argentina) and later, in July 2002 joined the AZTI Foundation, specializing in issues related to food security and management consultancy .
Since joining AZTI, has participated in the development of projects of various kinds, among which processes of strategic thinking, implementation of an integrated management system for quality, environment and R & D and adopting the EFQM business model within the organization.
Currently, he is member of AZTI Board of Directors and member of the EARTO Excellence & Quality Management Working Group, an organization that brings together the leading research centers in Europe.

She organises and directs the tasks of the members of the communication department. Her activity is focused on defining and implementing AZTI’s communication strategy, both off and online She is member of the Steering Committee.
She holds a degree on Communication (Journalism and Advertising specialties) and has completed an MBA. She has over 20 years of professional experience in various media and economic, cultural and scientific organizations at the international level, including the United Nations. Since joining the AZTI technological center in 2007, she has focused her work in corporate and scientific communication.

The Projects Office supports AZTI researchers and client companies with the administrative and economic management of our R&D projects. We support the entire life cycle, from the identification of the most appropriate funding programme to the preparation and presentation of the proposal, as well as the management and reporting of the project.
I organize and manage the tasks of the Project Office Team members. My activity is also focused on the management of European programmes and proposals, as well as European tenders.
I am a member of the Steering Committee and I participate in the BRTA group of European programmes of which AZTI is a member.

I am Industrial engineer and PhD in Polymer Technology with experience in techniques to improve the functionality and characterization of biopolymer films for food packaging. Since I joined AZTI in 2006, my work as a researcher has focused both on the use of innovative technologies to improve the preservation of foodstuff and on the development of non-destructive sensor solutions for monitoring food integrity. Currently leading the research line of food and food processes monitoring through non-destructive techniques. My work is focused on the development of solutions for monitoring parameters related to food and food processes (quality, shelf life, etc.) using different techniques (vis/NIR spectroscopy, microwave sensors, etc.). At the same time I am actively collaborating in different initiatives for advising and guiding food industries about the emerging intelligent technologies within the Industry 4.0 framework and how to implement them in an efficient way, based on a previous diagnosis of the company. During my professional career, I have acquired great experience in the participation and leadership of innovation and applied research projects, both in collaboration with single food companies and in larger collaborative projects at National and European level (FP7, H2020, EIT-food, etc.).

Descripción:
Dr. Lohitzune Solabarrieta is a civil engineer and she got her PhD in Science and Technology for the coastal management in 2015, at the University of Cantabria, in collaboration with AZTI. Her research interest is mainly focused on the characterization of the surface ocean processes, at different spatio-temporal scales, using data from remote sensing and in-situ instruments. She is also interested on the application of the ocean processes´ characterization to the operational oceanography.
