Maria C. Uyarra is an interdisciplinary researcher with more tan 15 years of experience. She holds an MSc in Applied Ecology and Conservation and a PhD on management of tourism for conservation of coral reefs. After several years working as a consultant, Maria C. Uyarra joined AZTI in 2011. Since then she has been working in several EU funded projects as a manager and participant in topics like: implementation of the Marine Strategy Framework Directive, marine ecosystem services, marine recreational activities or ocean literacy. She is co-author of more than 25 scientific articles, several books and book chapters, and editor of a special issue in Frontiers for which she received the Frontiers Sportlight Runner-up Award.
