In a world of ever-changing demographics, where the world’s population is estimated at 8.5 billion in 2030 and is expected to reach 9.7 billion by 2050, a crucial question arises: how will we feed this growing population?

The United Nations (UN) has warned of the need to increase food production by 70% to meet future demand. However, at the same time, we are faced with the worrying reality that valuable agricultural areas could experience an 80% decline due to climate change, according to the European Environment Agency. This combination of factors represents an imminent threat to global food security and the need to transform food production and distribution processes.

In addition, we must take into account other elements that aggravate this food crisis. The war in Ukraine, rising energy prices and the alarming fact that we waste 1.3 billion tons of food a year, according to the FAO, are problems that we cannot ignore.

However, in the midst of this uncertainty, we also find opportunities. We observe continuous changes in consumption habits, and the agri-food sector is immersed in two key transformational movements: digitalization and sustainability. These changes are fundamental to adapt to the new times and build a better future for people and the planet.

At Food 4 Future, we create a unique space for reflection, discovery and innovation. We know that these are turbulent and challenging times, but we also recognize that this great wave of change in the food sector is an opportunity we cannot afford to miss. Here, at this conference, we bring together brilliant and visionary minds who are leading the transformation of the agri-food industry. Join us at Food 4 Future and be part of this movement to drive bold, sustainable solutions to ensure global food security. Together, we can build a future in which food plays a fundamental role in the well-being of people and the care of the planet
