More than 15 years of professional experience as an ecosystem modeller at AZTI, involved in the implementation of an integrated framework for assessing and managing different marine systems at regional and global scale. Involved in more than 20 international and national projects. Task and Case study leader of some EU projects and currently leading a national project recently funded by the Spanish Ministry. Member of different international expert groups in ICES, ICCAT and IOTC, mainly related to the assessment of marine populations and ecosystems dynamics. Currently chairing the ICES Working Group on Ecosystem Assessment of Western European Shelf Seas (WGEAWESS – since 2015) and the ICES Workshop on operational Ecopath with Ecosim (EwE) models to inform Integrated Ecosystem Assessments (WKEWIEA – since 2018). Author and reviewer of several publications in SCI-indexed journals.
