Alertox-net main objective is to facilitate market delivery of safer marine food products by putting urgently needed innovative Toxicity alert systems for emerging marine toxins in the value chain. The systems will consist of cost-effective, easy-to-use, detection and alert methods, which will facilitate adoption by industry. The new developed tools will be also tested for toxins that are currently regulated so that industries which are not adapted, e.g. they are not aware of the toxins and methods, can benefit from better protected products for their consumers.
Coordinated by scientists at the faculty of Veterinary Science in the University of Santiago de Compostella, the consortium comprises 14 partners based in 5 European countries, who are considered leaders in their respective domains of expertise.
