La alta calidad científica combinada con la aplicación de los resultados de investigación es la base sobre la cual se sustenta que nuestro equipo investigador sea referente internacional.

El número de publicaciones científicas se mantiene en torno a las 127 publicaciones indexadas al año (datos 2021), de las cuales el 71% están en el cuartil 1, con un h-index de 90. En términos de calidad el número de citas sigue aumentando de manera regular, llegando a las 29,7 citas por publicación y un 49,6% de ellos con un/a investigador/a de AZTI como primer autor/a. Cabe destacar la publicación en 2021 en revistas de alto impacto como Nature, Nature Climate Change, Nature Sustainability, Global Change Biology, Renewable & Sustainable Energy Reviews, Limnology and Oceanography letters, Journal of Hazardous Materials, Fish and Fisheries etc.
