- The congress will take place on October 8-9, 2026
Irun, December 10, 2025. Uhinak, the International Congress on Climate Change and the Coast, promoted by Ficoba and the AZTI technological center, held its Technical Committee meeting this morning at Ficoba (Irun, Basque Country). The meeting served to outline the main innovations of its seventh edition, which will take place at Ficoba on October 8 and 9, 2026 (Thursday and Friday).
Staying true to its global approach, which brings together the scientific community, public administrations, and companies in a single forum, Uhinak takes a further step to strengthen its practical character and its usefulness in decision-making to address coastal climate challenges.
The climate emergency requires coordinated responses, and the 2026 edition introduces an evolution of the format, designed to facilitate the exchange of real experiences and enhance the applicability of the solutions presented.

New round tables aimed at city councils and municipalities
As a key innovation, Uhinak will include two specific round tables for town halls and municipalities in its program, to be held on the second day of the congress.
These sessions will address the challenges faced by coastal municipalities, as well as actions already implemented in different regions to confront the new climate reality. With this initiative, Uhinak strengthens the participation of local administrations, key actors in climate change adaptation.
Call for Abstracts: Opening in January
The Technical Committee has confirmed that the call for abstracts will open in January, inviting the research community, administrations, and companies to submit contributions that help build a useful, rigorous, and action-oriented program. The call for abstracts will be launched on January 11, 2026, and the deadline for submissions is April 21, 2026.
