Uhinak

Uhinak is a cross border congress on climate change and the coast of the European Atlantic area organized by Ficoba and AZTI. The first edition was held in 2015. The beginnings of the congress were motivated by the joint effect of storminess in 2013 and 2014 in the cross-border Basque coast and the publication of the 5th assessment report by the IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change).

This congress is biennial since 2016 and deals with the way climate change and extreme weather phenomena affect coastal areas, focused on knowing the needs of stakeholders facing climate change and how scientists can provide solutions. In order to achieve this objective, Uhinak sets out a multidisciplinary approach that brings together the different stakeholders: scientists, technicians, and administrations. Uhinak has enlarged its coverage throughout the editions, first addressing the Basque coast, then the Bay of Biscay littoral, and now the European Atlantic area.

In this third edition, Uhinak is held in March 6-7, 2018 in Ficoba, Irun, Spain, and meets 12 invited speakers and more than 35 communications.
