Ikerbasque, the Basque Foundation for Science

Recruitment programme for 20 young researchers with a 5-year employment contract.

Every year, Ikerbasque, the Basque Foundation for Science, launches five-year fellowships for promising young scientists and offers the possibility to evolve towards the position of principal investigator and independent research. The selected Fellows should be able to acquire the necessary skills to become scientific leaders. Ikerbasque is committed to offering a long-term research career to the scientific community: Fellows can be evaluated during their 5th year for a permanent position.

Programa Ramón y Cajal

DESCRIPTION

The purpose of these grants is to promote the incorporation of research personnel, both Spanish and foreign, with an outstanding track record in research organisations, so that they can acquire the skills and abilities that will enable them to obtain a stable position in a research organisation in the Spanish Science, Technology and Innovation System, specifically encouraging the incorporation of researchers who have been working abroad for a certain period of time.

Programa Juan de la Cierva

DESCRIPTION

The Juan de la Cierva grants are intended to encourage the incorporation of young people, in possession of a doctorate degree, in order to complete their postdoctoral research training in Spanish R&D centres. Participants must meet the requirement of holding a doctoral degree and have obtained it between 1 January 2022 and 31 December 2023 for general access and for JDC-INIA-CCAA access and between 1 January 2021 and 31 December 2023 for access for people with disabilities equal to or greater than 33 percent, unless they accredit a cause for interruption in accordance with the call for applications.
The applications for participation are submitted by the R&D centres and include the participants for their incorporation into the research teams. The selection is based on a competitive process based on their curricular merits and on the scientific-technical record of the research team in which they wish to join, giving special relevance to the merits of the tutor researcher.

Programa Torres Quevedo

DESCRIPTION

Three-year grants, the purpose of which is to promote the implementation of industrial research projects, experimental development or preliminary feasibility studies in companies, technology centres, technological innovation support centres, business associations and science and technology parks, for which the employment of people with a doctorate degree is necessary, in order to promote the professional career of research personnel, as well as to stimulate the demand in the private sector for personnel sufficiently prepared to undertake R&D plans and projects, and to help the consolidation of recently created technology companies.

Marie Skłodowska-Curie Individual Fellowships

DESCRIPTION

Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions fund outstanding research and innovation and equip researchers at all stages of their careers with new knowledge and skills, through cross-border mobility and exposure to different sectors and disciplines. MSCAs contribute to developing European research and innovation capacity by investing in the long-term careers of excellent researchers.
MSCA also funds the development of excellent doctoral and post-doctoral training programmes and collaborative research projects around the world. In doing so, they have a structuring impact on higher education institutions, research centres and non-academic organisations.
The MSCA promotes excellence and sets standards for the education and training of high quality researchers in line with the European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers.

Predoctoral Programme

Every year, the Basque Government launches different grants that aim to promote the training of researchers to obtain the title of PhD and the acquisition of competencies and skills related to quality scientific research within a PhD programme.
Likewise, these training programmes will finance a period of post-doctoral orientation once the doctoral degree has been obtained, for a maximum period of twelve months, aimed at the professional improvement and specialisation of the research personnel, provided that the degree is obtained during the period of execution of the grant. In any case, the duration of the contract may not exceed a maximum of four years.
