Objetivo

Este proyecto persigue definir y obtener series históricas de índices, según los diferentes descriptores de la Directiva Marco de la Estrategia Marina, que permitan en un futuro determinar la salud del ecosistema marino. Todo ello para realizar un uso integrado y sostenible del mar a través de una óptima gestión de estos conocimientos sobre la estructura y funcionamiento del ecosistema marino.

En la obtención de estos índices se aplicarán nuevas metodologías basadas en técnicas genéticas para estudiar la biodiversidad de cetáceos, aves marinas y peces pelágicos. Además, se obtendrá conocimiento sobre la abundancia y distribución de microplásticos en la superficie marina para poder en un futuro adoptar medidas que hagan frente a la problemática de los microplásticos por parte de gestores, investigadores, y desarrolladores tecnológicos.
