We offer solutions for marine spatial planning and the sustainable management of ecosystem goods and services, partnering with the port industry, the offshore sector and public administrations in the transition towards a more resilient and sustainable blue economy.
We develop tools, indicators and methodologies to assess the ecological and environmental state of coastal and estuarine areas, within the framework of the Water Framework Directive and the Marine Strategy Framework Directive.
We provide support to the sector – industry, administration and companies – in Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) procedures.
In a context of climate change, increasing pressure on ecosystems and a growing demand for reliable information, our mission is to provide solutions that help understand, anticipate and inform the best possible management of what is happening in the marine and coastal environment. We offer public authorities, companies and sector organisations robust scientific knowledge grounded in high-quality methods, technologies and data, supporting decision-making that reduces the environmental risks of human activity and ensures the sustainable management of our coasts and oceans.
ContactWe carry out projects aimed at conserving marine biodiversity in order to achieve sustainable management of natural resources. To do this, we carry out studies for the declaration of Marine Protected Areas and to protect endangered marine species, and we propose strategies for the recovery of sites subject to management and restoration measures.
We assess ecosystem services and their benefits for society – supply, regulation and cultural – as well as the functions of the ecosystem that sustains them and the human pressures that affect them.
We research the ecological state of coastal and estuarine areas, developing methods for assessing their ecological and environmental state under the Water Framework Directive and the Marine Strategy Framework Directive (MSFD).
For planning and ordering the marine environment, we generate knowledge and tools for sustainable, efficient management of human activities.sustains them and the human pressures that affect them.
As part of the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) process, we draw up Environmental Impact Studies (EIS) and associated Environmental Monitoring Plans (EMP) for both plans and programmes – in the context of Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) – and for projects in the marine environment.
