We assess the climate vulnerability of coastal and marine environments, focusing on infrastructure, habitats and coastal processes. This service helps anticipate physical and ecological impacts across these areas and supports scientifically informed adaptation planning.
Climate change is intensifying phenomena such as sea level rise, ocean acidification, marine heatwaves and extreme events, threatening strategic infrastructure (ports, transport networks and coastal facilities) and vulnerable habitats. Understanding which areas and physical assets are most exposed is essential for resilient spatial planning.
At AZTI, we combine marine science and advanced modelling to assess the vulnerability of coastal and marine areas:
Sectors: Fisheries and aquaculture sector, Maritime and port infrastructure, Offshore sector
Research lines: Blue Economy, Climate change, Environmental resilience and global change
Research sublines: Trends and scenarios in climate change
