We offer a real-time ocean transport characterisation service based on operational models and data from AZTI’s observing network. This capability enables the anticipation of the drift of pollutants, objects or particles at sea, supporting both emergency operations and environmental and resource-related studies.
In critical situations—such as oil spills, container losses, pellet dispersion or maritime search and rescue operations—it is essential to understand, in real time, how water masses and drifting objects move. This requires Lagrangian models driven by modelled or observational current data.
