We integrate time series analysis of marine and coastal variables with regional climate change models to identify trends, project future scenarios and anticipate their impacts on ecosystems, strategic sectors and infrastructure. We provide a robust scientific basis for adaptive climate planning at multiple scales.
Climate change is progressively transforming marine and coastal environmental conditions (temperature, wave climate, sea level, circulation, ocean acidification, etc.). These changes affect biodiversity, the safety of infrastructure, the operational capacity of sectors such as fisheries and aquaculture, and urban and port planning. Without reliable analyses of past trends and projections tailored to the local context, it is not possible to anticipate risks or design effective adaptation strategies.
At AZTI, we provide an integrated service that combines observation, statistical analysis and climate modelling:
Sectors: Fisheries and aquaculture sector, Maritime and port infrastructure
Research lines: Blue Economy, Climate change, Environmental resilience and global change
Research sublines: Trends and scenarios in climate change
