AZTI characterises dredged materials and conducts their environmental monitoring for relocation in waters of the public maritime-terrestrial domain (PMTD).
Dredging operations are essential to ensure access to ports for vessels, which increasingly require greater draughts due to their growing size. However, some dredged materials are contaminated and therefore require specific management techniques, either for disposal at sea or for beneficial use.
