Impact and environmental vigilance in the marine environment

Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA)

Within the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) procedure, we carry out Environmental Impact Studies (EIS) and associated Environmental Monitoring Plans (EMPs) for both plans and programmes (Strategic Environmental Assessment, SEA) and projects in the marine environment.

• EIS for a wide range of projects: marine renewable energy, aquaculture, port expansions, dredging, discharges, etc.

Within the framework of the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) procedure, we develop Environmental Monitoring Plans (EMPs) associated with a variety of projects in the marine environment.

• We assess the effects of pollutants on marine ecosystems by carrying out bioassays with marine organisms at different trophic levels in order to evaluate the toxicity or the effects of pollutants in the marine environment (water, sediment or leachate).

• • Characterisation and management of dredged material.
  • Recommendations on the use of biocides based on ecotoxicological criteria, calculating admissible emission values so as to prevent impacts in the immediate vicinity of the disposal area.
  • Optimisation of sediment bioassays with high ammonium concentrations.
  • Biofouling analysis and its impact on infrastructures and ecosystems.
• Characterisation and monitoring of dredged material for its relocation in waters within the public maritime–terrestrial domain.
  • Physico-chemical characterisation.
  • Biological characterisation.
  • Ecotoxicological characterisation.
  • Management recommendations in accordance with the guidelines of the Interministerial Commission of Marine Strategies (CIEM, 2024) for the characterisation of dredged material and its relocation in waters within the public maritime–terrestrial domain.
• Characterisation and control of underwater noise using passive acoustics.
• Passive sampling devices for environmental monitoring.
• Advanced environmental monitoring systems (unmanned surface, aerial and underwater vehicles, cameras, landers, etc.).
• Characterisation and assessment of impacts generated by electromagnetic fields.
