Generation of compounds and materials from bacteria and other marine organisms:

Bacteria producing glycan-processing enzymes of biotechnological interest.
Biopolymer with regenerative properties obtained from a marine bacterium.

We apply molecular techniques and develop genetic tools to improve the management of marine environments and their resources.

Oceanographic ships and craft

AZTI has its own and partner fleets to support oceanographic and fishery research, combining its own resources with the support of specialist companies and public institutions. This capacity ensures that scientific campaigns can be carried out at sea and in coastal areas with the highest technical and safety levels.

Marine environment biodetection laboratories

At AZTI we use biosensing methods to support environmental monitoring programmes, monitor the presence of pathogens and detect specific contaminants in marine and coastal waters.
