Blue bioeconomy
Unlocking the potential of marine bioresources
We explore marine biodiversity, microorganisms and underutilised resources as sources of new high-value bioproducts. We combine bioprospecting, omics technologies, microbiology and bioprocesses to identify, characterise, produce and validate new solutions.

From lab to market
AZTI has biotechnology and molecular biology laboratories, analytical capabilities, processing facilities and pilot-scale facilities to support technological development from the identification of a biological opportunity through to validation and scale-up.
This approach makes it possible to integrate biological characterisation, technological development, experimental validation and industrial expertise within a single process, reducing the gap between proof of concept and a solution ready for market transfer or industrial implementation.
