BEST ARTICLE PUBLISHED IN THE MARINE RESEARCH JOURNAL 2008
The Editor of AZTI-Tecnalia’s RIM-Revista de Investigación Marina (Marine Research Journal) and its Editorial Committee have agreed to award the prize for the best article published in the journal in 2008 to issue RIM-08, entitled: “Atlas de energía del oleaje. La planificación espacial marina como herramienta en la selección de zonas adecuadas para la instalación de captadores” (Atlas of wave energy. Marine spatial planning as a tool in selecting zones suitable for installing wave energy converters). The authors are: Ibon Galparsoro, Pedro Liria, Irati Legorburu, Pablo Ruiz-Minguela, Germán Pérez, Javier Marqués, Yago Torre-Enciso, and Manuel González.
The prize has been awarded to this piece of research because:
- It is an important piece of work, extremely useful for a host of pieces of research to be carried out on the Basque coast. These include many disciplines like coastal resources, the transport of pollutants, climate change, or the integrated management of coastal areas.
- It is a good example of a study with a direct application in a field of great interest and potential for development, like marine energy, showing AZTI-Tecnalia’s capacity in this area of knowledge.
- It is a multidisciplinary article involving researchers from various centres (AZTI-Tecnalia, Robotiker, EVE)
BEST REVIEWER OF AN ARTICLE PUBLISHED IN THE MARINE RESEARCH JOURNAL 2008
The Editor of AZTI-Tecnalia’s Revista de Investigación Marina (Marine Research Journal) and its Editorial Committee have agreed to award the prize for best reviewer of an article published in the journal in 2008 to Nerea Goikoetxea.
She has received the award for the following reasons:
“Despite the fact that it is her first invitation to review a scientific article, she took the trouble to ask other researchers about how to approach a review, and did a course on evaluating scientific articles to lend greater support to her decision. With all this, before the deadline, she had completed an exhaustive review of the article entrusted to her; she made well-informed comments on the decisions she was taking, provided the authors with additional bibliography, and corrected mistakes and aspects relating to quality. All this led to the considerable improvement of the article reviewed, thus fulfilling the expectations that are to be expected from an excellent reviewer.”
