Enviphage project investigates the use of bacteriophages to eliminate fish-pathogen bacteria in aquaculture facilities

  • The aim is to destroy harmful bacteria without changing environmental or intestinal bacteria populations
  • The presence of pathogenic bacteria that cause diseases is one of the main problems in aquaculture
  • The use of bacteriophages assures free-antibiotic fishery products without productivity reductions.
  • Bacteriophages would not affect the health of the fish or the consumer.
