Julien Mader, M. Eng. in Marine Technologies (Institut des Sciences de l’Ingénieur de Toulon et du Var, France). He has been working for 14 years in AZTI. He is currently head of Marine Technologies Area in the Marine Research Division, coordinating technological development, innovation and transfer to marine and maritime fields (Operational oceanography, Fisheries, Aquaculture, Transport, Ocean energy, Tourism). He has been involved in European, national and regional projects oriented to the transfer of services and products to marine and littoral stakeholders. He is also strongly involved in European networking initiatives (EuroGOOS, EMODnet, European Energy Research Alliance Marine).

Degree in Food Science and Technology and Nutritionist by the Basque Country University. Since 2009, she works in the Food Research Division of AZTI-Tecnalia as Junior Researcher. She has been involved in R&D&I national and international projects focused on the design and transfer to the food industry of new food products from laboratory to industrial scale-up. Experience in the design and development of food products with health and nutrition claims according to European Regulation, (low salt and fat sauces, source of fiber and omega3 dairy products) or high organoleptic quality products with new textures, less additives” clean label”, using novel processing technologies such as High Hydrostatic Pressure and aerated food using aerosol packaging technology. She also collaborates with haute cuisine chefs in new courses design, as well as transferring culinary skills and knowledge to food technology applications.

BSc in Biological Sciences from the University of Santiago de Compostela. PhD form the University of the Basque Country. He’s working at AZTI since its inception in 1981. Director of Research and Innovation of the Marine Research Division of AZTI Foundation. He’s in charge of research, technology and innovation strategic planning at AZTI and the relationships with public programming bodies at the regional, national and European level since 2000, including the alignment with the blue growth strategy in more recent times, with special incidence in the development of public-private business initiatives in the marine, blue growth domain. His academic background includes a PhD in living marine resources evaluation methods, and a long experience in scientific advice for fisheries management to managers at local, European and International level. Author of more tan 90 scientific papers.

In recent years Hilario has mainly focused his research on fish reproductive potential studies and population dynamics of tropical tunas. He is member of the International Commission for the Conservation of Atlantic Tunas (ICCAT) and Indian Ocean Tuna Commission (IOTC) Scientific Committee. He is the chair of the Tropical Tunas Working Party of IOTC since 2010. He is also member of the Scientific, Technical and Economic Committee for Fisheries (STECF). He regularly supervises master and PhD students and has published more than 40 peer reviewed papers, coedited 5 special fishery journal volumes, and contributed over 50 working documents in various RFMOs. He has been involved in several EU funded projects related to biology, assessment and management of fish species being the Coordinator of the EU funded TXOTX (Technical Experts Overseeing Third country Expertise) and Provision of scientific advice for the purpose of the implementation of the EUPOA sharks.

Previously, he completed his PhD on fish physiology at Exeter University and has worked in the Marine Biological Association (UK) in areas of intertidal and benthic ecology.
