Food integrity and food safety is what fascinates me.
I obtained my PhD at University of Zaragoza (1997) in the field of protein chemistry. Molecular Biology or Chromatographic–based detection technologies are the fields where my scientific passion lies, and with 7 patents and more than 25 peer-reviewed papers I am still active in this field.
Background: Food Safety, Food biotechnology, Biochemistry, Proteomics.
Other competences:
Negotiating with business partners.
Overseeing our extensive research portfolio and supporting a number of priority food quality and safety programs.
Serving as a member of the management board of the Division and contributing to the Technological and Research plan as well as the human resources support.

Since 1994 successively worked in “Instituto de Ciencias del Mar” (CSIC, Barcelona), “Plymouth Marine Laboratory” (NERC, Plymouth) and “Southampton Oceanography Center” (NERC, Southampton) and AZTI from 2002 to 2011 before joining King Abdullah University for Science and Technology (KAUST) in 2011. Head of the Biological Oceanography & living resources section in the Marine Research Division of AZTI foundation from 2004 to 2011.and Director of the Red Sea Research Center in KAUST from 2011 to 2016. Member of the editorial council of Journal Plankton Research, editorial board of Scientific Data, associate editor in Marine Biology and Frontiers in Marine Ecology.

BSc in Human Nutrition and Dietetics and Food Science and Technology. Master in occupational Health and Safety by the University of the Basque Country.
She has more than 20 years of experience in Technology Watch and Competitive Intelligence. Member of AZTI´s Business Intelligence Team.
Her work is focuses on data collection and analysis to foster innovation and help strategic decision-making for AZTI researchers and its clients. Member of the Trend and Innovatory Observatory of AZTI, always attentive to consumer trends and early signs of the market that may have an impact on the food and health sector. She also performs communication activities like contributions in publications, blogs and events.

Her work focuses on data collection and analysis to detect opportunities and strategic decision-making for AZTI and its clients. She also performs communication activities, participating in diverse events, publications and blogs.She has run the Trend and Innovation Observatory for the past four years, under which research projects on consumer trends are developed, together with their implementation and integration in food innovation processes.
