University of Salford

The University of Salford (https://www.salford.ac.uk/) celebrates its 50th birthday in 2017 and is proud of its strong global presence, with around 18,000 students and 3,000 international students from more than 100 countries worldwide. Within it, the Ecosystems and Environment Research Centre (EERC) is made up of over 30 academics and 40 doctoral students who together address the major environmental challenges of the 21st Century: biodiversity resource management, climate and environmental change and spread of infectious diseases. The team employ a wide variety of approaches, including behavioural ecology, epidemiology, ethnography, forensic ecology, genomics, geographic information systems, molecular ecology, radioecology, remote sensing, sociology, and spatial analysis, and use cutting edge innovative technologies to pursue research goals. The University of Salford has a culture of multidisciplinary collaboration, bringing together biologists, geographers and environmental scientists to facilitate research opportunities. Our research contributes to the scientific understanding of the biological, physical and social dimensions of environmental change and the resulting impacts on our world.
