Here&#8217;s a snapshot of Europe&#8217;s plant-based startup ecosystem.[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]By sector, these are the plant-based startups to keep an eye on:<\/p>\n<h3>Plant-based meat analogues:<\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text]<div class=\"standard-arrow list-divider bullet-top\"><ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.juicymarbles.com\/eu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Juicy marbles:<\/a> Developed by Formidable Foods, Inc. LLC (Slovenia, EU), they base their claim on being a group of creators making food, science and art.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.jackandbry.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jack &amp; Bry:<\/a> Established in the UK, its model is based on making meat analogues from jackfruit.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/heurafoods.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Heura Foods<\/a>: The Spanish company founded in 2017 is among the Top 10 of the 500 Foodtech companies evaluated by Forward Fooding.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.laviefoods.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">La Vie Foods:<\/a> French and founded in 2019, it features a patented vegetable fat that they say allows for a meat-like experience like no other brand.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/milgogi.lt\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">MILGOGI<\/a>: This Italian company develops wholemeal meat alternatives, with high nutritional value, fibrous texture and good organoleptic properties, made from various vegetable proteins.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/ragingpig.co\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Raging Pig Company:<\/a> Its mission is to eliminate pork from the food industry. Its flagship product is &#8220;bacon&#8221; (Germany, 2021).<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.novameat.com\/\">Nova Meat<\/a>: (Barcelona, 2018) They offer products that claim to be far from\u00a0 bland, uninspired plant-based meats that cannot match animal products in terms of taste, texture and aroma.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/ripfoods.com\/\">RIP\u2122 Foods:<\/a> Based in Barcelona, they produce plant-based street food for restaurants and retailers.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/qurczak.pl\/o-nas\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Apollo:<\/a> Polish company that seeks to show that plant-based cooking can be healthy and tasty.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/greenandgreat.eu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Green&amp;Great<\/a>: Founded in Spain in 2018, it focuses on the distribution of plant-based proteins to the HORECA sector.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.letitvfoods.com\/\">Let it v: <\/a>Established in Barcelona in 2022, it aims to redefine the concept of meat and make the plant-based option increasingly inclusive for all publics.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/eu.shop.eatplanted.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Planted:<\/a> (Switzerland, 2018) combines proprietary structuring and fermentation technologies to produce meat from vegetable proteins, using only clean ingredients.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/happyvore.com\/\">HappyVore<\/a>: Founded in France in 2019, it produces locally produced vegetarian alternatives to meat.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/umiami.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><u>Uniami:\u00a0<\/u><\/a>(France, 2020) Pioneers in the development of a patent-pending process for texturising vegetable proteins called &#8220;umisation&#8221; that they say can recreate the experience of meat and fish fillets without compromising taste or texture.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/vfcfoods.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">VFC Foods:\u00a0<\/a> Since 2020, they have been working on chicken analogues.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.greenforce.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Greenforce<\/a>: A company founded in 2020 in Germany that has developed an enzymatic process capable of converting almost any plant into high-quality protein-rich food products.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/meeat.co\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Meeat:\u00a0<\/a> A Finnish company&#8217;s commitment to meat catalogues.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/oumph.net\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Oumph!<\/a>:It offers a range of products that emulate hamburgers, meatballs and more.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/vegafit.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">vegafit<\/a>: Established in the Netherlands, it specialises in the production of plant-based products.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>[vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h3>Plant-based dairy analogues:<\/h3>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text]<div class=\"standard-arrow list-divider bullet-top\"><ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.vacka.es\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">V\u00c4CKA:<\/a> (Spain, 2019). They develop cheese analogues with different lines: creamy, matured and meltable, and also a range of pizzas.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/nutropy.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Nnutropy:<\/a> Its B2B solution provides animal-free milk replacers produced by precision fermentation that can be transformed into cheese analogues.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/company\/sennsenn\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">SENNsenn:<\/a> This Austrian company is the first plant-based alternative to cheese made from apricot kernels.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>[vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Plant-based alternatives to fish:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text]<div class=\"standard-arrow list-divider bullet-top\"><ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/bettafish.co\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">BetaFish<\/a>: Founded in Germany in 2020, they launched their first tuna substitute in 2021 and have been growing ever since.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/happyoceanfoods.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Happy Ocean Foods:<\/a> This German foodtech company founded in 2019 focuses on using algae and proteins to develop sustainable alternatives to seafood.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.seavolutionfoods.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Seavolution<\/a>: Since 2021, they have been offering fish of vegetable origin, cooked in a natural way, using an efficient and easy to scale process.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/revo-foods.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Revo Foods<\/a>: From Austria, it offers fish analogues also for the HORECA sector.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/hookedfoods.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Hooked:\u00a0<\/a>This Swedish company is supported by EIT Food and has been running since 2019.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/lokifoods.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Loki Foods:<\/a> From Iceland, they have just launched their first white fish alternative.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/isauki.com\/es\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Isauki:<\/a> They develop alternatives to seafood products with high nutritional value, mainly based on micro and macro algae (Bilbao, 2022).<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.olalafoods.fr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">OLALA:<\/a> (Formerly Seafood Reboot) is a French foodtech that focuses on the taste of its products.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/mimicseafood.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mimic Seafood:<\/a> From Madrid, they emphasise their Mediterranean roots.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>[vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Plant-based <\/strong><strong>&#8220;foie gras&#8221;<\/strong><strong>:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text]<div class=\"standard-arrow list-divider bullet-top\"><ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.aberyne.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Aberyne<\/a>: The French company&#8217;s main project is an alternative to foi gras.
