Idoia Olabarrieta is Industrial Engineer and PhD in Polymer Technology. She has experience in the improvement of physical/functionality of biodegradable packaging materials and in different food preservation techniques. Her work as a researcher at AZTI has focused on the use of innovative technologies to improve the preservation of packaged foodstuff. Her current work is mainly directed towards the online monitoring of food quality parameters by sensors. She has experience in leading technological/research projects with food industry and in collaboration with different research partners. Project leader in several national and European collaboration projects and work package leader in PicknPack FP7 European project.

International Master in Fisheries Management (Universty of Tromso ) Marine researcher in the Fishing Technology area. Technical expertise on fishing gear technology aiming at reducing the environmental impact of fishing activity and improving the technology development of the commercial fishing fleet. More than 900 days in the last 15 years onboard fishing and research vessels in sea trials for selectivity experiments, acoustic surveys, tuna tagging and more.

Marine Biologist graduated in the ULPGC (Universidad de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria), I obtained the European Master in Environmental Contamination and Toxicology in the University of Basq Country.
Working in AZTI since 2007 as fisheries observer, I have an extensive experience in sampling onboard fishing boats, as much as in scientific-oceanografphic campains offshore and litoral-coast sampling.
