  • Background: Mathematics and Statistics
  • Generalist Competence: Sustainable fisheries management
  • Specialist competence: Management Strategy Evaluation, Bio-Economic modeling, Stock Assessment, statistical data analysis.
  • She works mainly in bio-economic modelling of fisheries systems and stock assessment. At present she coordinates the stock assessment of Northern stock of European Hake in ICES. She has a long experience in the development of bio-economic evaluation of management strategies. She is the principal developer of the FLBEIA software, a simulation model to carry out bio-economic impact assessment of fisheries management strategies.

In AZTI se has participated in several European projects related with management plans and their evaluation (COBECOS, COMMIT, EFIMAS, CEVIS, UNCOVER, AFRAME, DEEPFISHMAN). In DEEPFISHMAN she leaded the development of the evaluation of management strategies in several international case studies. Recently, she coordinated a case study in the European Project Myfish which objective was to manage fisheries in the framework of MSY taking into account ecologic, economic and social dimensions. At present, she coordinates a case study in European DrumFish proyect. The objective of this project is to develop a methodology for the assessment and management of data-poor stocks in a mixed-fisheries framework. She also works giving general statistical support in different projects. In 2007 she participated in COST project where several R packages related with data standardization, analysis and visualization were built. In this project, she built the simulation library which allows assessing the goodness of fit of different extrapolation methods.
