My professional experience in Azti is based on participation in campaigns Bioman and Juvena and everything to do with jobs in the research laboratory marine waters, sediments, aquaculture…. On the other hand, in other companies, have been part of the quality assurance Department, performing audits, I.T.S, physical tests, CoA, calibrations and controled presence in workplace, management of non-conformities and customer service.

Laboratory technician with extensive experience in ichthyoplankton studies, identification of eggs and larvae of commercially important pelagic fish as well as classification according to different development stages. Participation in different workshops on Mackerel and Horse Mackerel (2003 -2006); Engraulis encrasicolus and Sardina pilchardus (2002). Extensive experience in oceanographic campaigns and in biological onboard and port sampling. Specialist in the preparation of larval and juvenile anchovy and mackerel otoliths and Chief Analyst of daily growth of these species, as a member of the ICES 2013 working group. Extensive experience in physical-chemical issues of sediment and water.

Adaptation of analytical protocols to explore and define new methods and technologies for the analysis and testing of foods with enhanced nutritional profile or with health benefits, focusing on the lipid profile assessment. Fatty acid derivatisation techniques, GC-MS and thin layer chromatography (TLC and Ag+-TLC). Production of functional oils through chemical synthesis, hydrolysis and purification methods and fermentation-based processes. Determination of the oxidative behaviour of oils with nutritional and/or health properties using different analytical methods for their subsequent incorporation in food matrices.

Expertise in oceanographic campaigns (Bay of Biscay, North Sea and Atlantic Ocean): hydrography, acoustics and biological sample processing. Main collaborator in stock management and logistics of sampling material.

PhD in Analytical Chemistry by the University of the Basque Country in 2007. She works in the Marine Research Division of AZTI since 2007, first as Junior Researcher and, since 2013, as Head of Laboratory. She works on analytical methods for environmental monitoring, assessment of chemical status of estuarine and coastal water and contaminants in the marine environment. She participates in regional, national and international projects dealing with the implementation of the Marine Strategy Framework Directive and the Water Framework Directive. Expertise in development and analysis of trace metals and organic pollutants in sediment, biota and water and also in analysis of total organic carbon and dissolved nutrients in marine water. Author of 19 publications in international peer-reviewed journals and in more than 15 international conferences.
