From 28th to 30th September AZTI will be at Biospain 2016, the 8th International Meeting on Biotechnology, scheduled to take place in Bilbao and which will be covering all the new developments on the current biotechnological scene.
As in previous years, AZTI’s researchers will participate in this event (BIOBASQUE Stand #3). This time we will highlight our activities in Food and Health personalization; Blue Growth and Bioeconomy and in zebra fish model.
We will also take part in the Food and Health session (28th September, 15-00 to 16: 30, Room C), where Dr Matxalen Uriarte, Head of Market Value Department from AZTI will go over “Membrane lipid profile: New approach for Healthy Food Innovation” thematic.
Personalization: Food & Health
Cell Membrane Lipidomics for FOOD DESIGN
/ New foods for HEALTH equilibrium, PREVENTION and WELLBEING.
/ We draw a direct way from bioscience to FOOD and GASTRONOMY research to develop personalized products and meals, giving response to consumer needs and preferences.
Blue Growth and Bioeconomy
Biotechnology for production of high value compounds: proteins, fatty acids, antioxidants…
/ AQUACULTURE development.
/ PHAGES for food safety: solutions based on bacteriophages for the biocontrol and biosanitation of food-borne pathogens in food and aquaculture.
/ GENETICS based AZTI´s Marine Biotic Index (gAMBI).
/ BIOREFINERY process development for obtention of high value compounds for food and feed applications.
/ FERMENTATIVE PROCESSES: Design and optimization (microalgae, fungi, marine microorganisms). Integrated solutions for circular economy.
High efficient analysis: Zebra fish
Animal model to test beneficial effects and toxicity on a variety of compounds
/ ANALYSIS for Food research, Aquaculture and Feed development: Membrane Lipidomics, Gene expression and specific end-points; Toxicity tests for food contaminants and nanoparticles; Determination of the compound uptake and localization; Studies on Microbiota.
