Impartido por la Dra. Carla Ferreri, investigadora sénior del Consejo Nacional de Investigación de Italia (ISOF-CNR) y Fundadora de Lipinutragen.
Dr Carla Ferreri intends to develop the field of Nutrilipidomics, proposing an original approach for personalized nutraceuticals and functional foods, based on the characterization of lipidomic profiles in different health conditions and pathologies. Collaboration with medical units in different specialties is on going and the main results will be presented. The first project of
nutrilipidomics is present in the Italian market with the lipidomic analysis Fat Profile® for nutritional evaluation, and in the pharmacies with the molecular indicators Fat Pharmacy® useful in preventive strategies, and nutraceutical and functional food lines are developed to address the cell membrane performance at molecular level.
Dra. Carla Ferreri, graduated in Medicinal Chemistry in 1979 and post-graduated in Hospital Pharmacy in 1981, but her passion for organic synthesis and medicinal chemistry brought her to UC San Diego, California, for collaboration with Prof. E. Wenkert’s group. In 1984 she was appointed as permanent research fellow at the Organic Chemistry Department of the University of Napoli. From 2001 she moved to the Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche (CNR), Bologna, where she is now Senior Researcher responsible of the project “Biomarkers of Free Radical Stress”.
Her research interests deals with the field of free radicals in life sciences. She is author of 150 publications and book chapters, 3 patents and 1 book. In the field of cell membrane lipidomics, Dr Ferreri is interested in the follow-up of fatty acid residues present in membrane phospholipids under physiological and pathological conditions, and her innovative project “Lipidomic profile of cell membranes: a molecular approach applied to human health” was recognized in 2010 with the ITWIIN award as the Best Innovator Woman in Italy and in 2011 received a certificate of merit at the EUWIIN conference in Helsinki.
Dr Ferreri co-founded with Dr. Chatgilialoglu the spin-off at the CNR, LIPINUTRAGEN, and she is also co-founder of the recently born, LipiNutraMed, start-up recognized by the National Center of Scientific Research “Demokritos”, in Greece.
