Innovation for the Management of the Marine Environment

  • AMBI: AZTI Marine Biotic Index: Includes over 5,900 taxa representatives from the North Sea down to the Mediterranean, and even in those of North America, South America and South Eastern Asia. Calculates AMBI index, M-AMBI values, displays data graphically and exports results. This version gives you the possibility to use more than 255 samples in your calculations, without limit.
  • The Ocean-Meteorological Station in Pasaia: The Ocean-Meteorological Station built on Arando Grande in the estuary of Pasaia, emerged as a result of an agreement signed between the Basque Government’s Transportation and Public Works Department and AZTI.  The station records the following meteorological parameters: wind (direction, speed and maximum gusts), atmospheric pressure and air temperature, other data that can be checked in real time on this website.
  • Recruitment Forecasting Software: This is a fish recruitment prediction software, used to build a robust classifier for fish recruitment prediction with sparse and noisy data. However the software can be used to predict any ecosystem answer where the relation cause effect is unknown but a relation between a number of environmental parameters and the variable to be predicted can be expected. The methodology consists of 4 steps: (1) a semi-automated recruitment discretization method; (2) supervised discretization of predictors; (3) multivariate and non-redundant predictors selection; (4) learning a probabilistic classifier.
  • itsasGIS: The growing interest and demand in multidisciplinary tasks and the access and enquiries of all the information generated, has lead us to plan the development of a system that can manage, integrate and take full advantage of its use, by means of Geographic Information Systems – GIS.
  • Trimodena: TRIMODENA® (Three-dimensional Model of Finite Elements) is an in-house developed tool that allows for the integration of most of the factors that affect the estuaries and the sea: currents, tides and the transport of pollutants.
