Forthcoming event in October: Forum on environmental sustainability in the food industry
30/07/09. Bilbao. Environmental sustainability will be the main focus of the Forum organised by the AZTI-Tecnalia technology centre and scheduled to take place in Bilbao on 1st and 2nd October. Fresh approaches and good environmental practices for the food processing industry sector will be presented in the course of this meeting, for which the registration period is now open.
The event will be gathering together experts in the subject from organisations like the Observatory for Sustainability, CIEMAT, the Spanish Network for Life Cycle Analysis, Ihobe or AZTI-Tecnalia. They will be explaining how to incorporate the environmental component in order to give the food processing industry added value.
At the same time, representatives of different food processing companies like Grupo Mahou, Leche Pascual, Pepsico, Unilever, Eroski or Conservas La Gaviota, among others, will be reporting on their successful experiences designed to reduce costs (associated with optimising production processes), "ecodesign" products or processes, and obtain an economic value from the by-products that are generated.
This Forum approaches environmental sustainability as a strategy for the future for the food processing industry and is divided into two parts: one is technical, and the other has a forum workshop format. Within the Workshop framework, in which the PLANETA Technology Platform will be collaborating, the environmental needs and solutions of the food processing sector will be identified and prioritised so that they can be transferred to the Strategic Agenda for Environmental Technology Research.
The Forum will also have a "sustainable innovation" showcase that will be displaying a selection of food products launched on a world level over the past year under the concepts of environmental and/or social responsibility and sustainability.
Those who attend the meeting will be provided with a Market Dossier; entitled "Green Marketing", it will include the main trends in consumption, product launching, and marketing and communication strategies associated with this category of foodstuffs.
